A Little Story Telling

Tonight it is unseasonably warm outside. There is a slight drip in the air and a gentle raindrop a fallin'. After a trip to Trader Joe's for some paper products, we realized that despite Bup and Noah's action packed day- Bup needed a walk. It was raining, but I was dying to put this Cortisoned wrist to use. I volunteered to put on the Colorado camping pants made to deflect a mountain rain, some non flip flops, and a rain jacket ala the motherland. Off I went happily able to ride Bup sidestyle down the streets of the Brookie-Wookie. Super fun. Me and the Schwinn and the Bupination.
The point of my story, however, is a memoir- Calkins style.
About 19 years ago, it was a night similar to this one. Welcome warmth, cozy houses, and all assignments completed. The Lowry Dining Center had just served up some delicious Brocollini and Veggie Burgers and Noah and I were early in love. WE decided to walk the down in our warm coats and walk to wherever the night time sky led us. We ended up at the end of Christmas Run Park, and around the cul de sac. There was a gloriously cozy building looking over the park that had about three fantastic apartments in it. We were dreamin' of the days of post college... we decided we would love the College of Woo and said out loud, "Wouldn't it be cool if we ended up living somewhere together in a cozy house while it rained outside on an unseasonably warm November night." Yes, this is ad-libbed and paraphrased- duh! But the effect is there, folks.
Anyhow, after a cute smooch we walked up the hill to find the Schwans Ice Cream Truck pull up to some lucky Ohioan's house for an ice cream home delivery.
Noah exclaimed, "Uhm... now that's living" and both of us giggled. We knew it would be hilariously luxurious to "end up living somewhere together in a cozy house while it rained outside on an unseasonably warm November night" with Schwans home delivery. This evening, the neighbor on the corner is living out our dream. God bless 'em!
