Summertime Inspiration- Now What? Now How?
Summertime officially ends with tomorrow morning's alarm clock blast. I HAVE to go to work and get my mind wrapped around the concepts of schedules, deadlines, "expectations", fitting in things I also enjoy, and finding time to relax and slow it down. Every summer comes with similar sensations, the expectation of the last day of school- exciting. The trying to unwind all of June. The oceans, the mountains, the backyards, and the old friends not often seen. There is no clock and there is no designated bathroom time. There is the opportunity for leisure mornings reading the paper and sucking down espressos or big fat cups of coffee- multiple cups! There is the open road, the crazy folks we meet and greet, and the simple do as we pleasedness. With these chances comes inspiration. I wish I could honestly say that looking down the barrel of another long time until summer were inspiring me, however, not so much. It's not a bad thing, its just lacking in inspiration. Sure, I will do fun stuff, enjoy good folks, and come up with some crazy ways to engage students that are fun and exciting to me. I really do like my job, however, the getting back to the work year rarely inspires this thought in me - "God that was an experience with that textbook, now how can I make that a part of my life or take from it the energy it gives" So I leave summer with a list of the inspired and accompaning pictures. I ask myself this- now what? now how?
1. 6 am ocean walks with the dolphins and muffins at the gazebo every morning. How's that gonna be made to happen?
2. Escape to Create Seaside Style. Get me the application- stat.
3. Body Surfing- say no more, where's the sun all year?
4. Peak Bagging with the elks- the ultimate favorite
5. Camping and spending entire days at end outside breathing fresh air and peace- Where's that zen gonna be found when the bells and deadlines ring a ding ding?
6. Art of the ancient and Art of the newer- hmm.... no witty comment on that one.
7. The open road and its endless possibility- when and where and how to do it getting paid with health insurance?
8. Moving as an expatriot from Boulder, CO to anywhere spectacular- sign me up and pack your bags mom and dad!
9. How to find Buehla and make her as cool as the little chicklets we know in our lives. Adoption papers are daunting.
10. and finally how to lock as joyous as the next posts' photo every day and all day? Good makeup?
