The Story of Bup- subtitled, "Be Bad"
So it goes a little like this.....a few weeks back we got our home study done and the paperwork walked out the door with Sue, our Social Worker. We have been wanting a dog for ages and have found every reason to not want to commit. We decided early on in this adoption process that "when all the paperwork was in, we would get a dog". Noah and I have been saying this for about a year now. Anyhows, like I said... paperwork out the door. It seems like eery other weekend we go to the dog humane society and check out the pups waiting to find one that is equal to Hoover. We know there is not a dog on the planet that can top that dog, HOOVER is still king! Sorry, Bup.
Two weeks ago, Noah goes to OH to visit his mom. I stayed home to enjoy times in the house, solace, and no schedules. It was great. Noah had a great time in OH also. On this Saturday morning, I am running on the treadmill and think to myself, "This is boring... I want a dog". So I hit the stop button and hopped into the car for a drive into Chi-city to see if there was a dog at Paws for a Cause. I didn't know that we all needed to be present for the "adoption" of a dog until I got there. Another part of the story for later. So I get there and am interested in this dog Jill- cut little spaz. The place wanted references, however, with phone numbers. BEing cell phone owner free, I had to drive home, get numbers and call our good friends Molly, Brent, jenine and Doug. I had to ask them if they would lie and say that I lived in a house by myself. Sorry Noah. They agreed, I wolfed down lunch and went back for Jill, the pitbull Hoover look alike. Well, they wouldn't let me take her because I needed a special training session and the trainer was not available...blah, blah, blah. So, I looked again and met Bup aka Nina.
Drove home thinking about it and decided.
If this weekend was really about me getting a sense of my independence back then this dog was what I was going to do. SHe fit all our criteria for what we were looking for and I knwo Noah would agree. So I woke up Sunday and went to go get her, acting like a single girl living in the suburbs. One hour later, Bup arrived.
Now, 2 weeks later she is trained to not run out the door and escape- phew, this happened.
She is working on being a non jumper when we get home.
She is funny, tail wagging, and gonna try out the forest preserve this weekend.
Noah was a little mad that I got the dog without him, but now he is in love- so let's just let bygones be bygones, right.
He simply asked that I do not accept Buehla Baby without talking with him first! :)
One more thing, as Noah was leaving for OH, the last thing he said was, "Have fun. Be bad.' I guess I kinda did that.
