Change, the original intent
When this Little Brick-e started, it was to get myself adjusted to the big move to the burbs leaving a city behind that I really didn't want to leave, but couldn't ever afford. That was before big recession prices, but who's looking back with 20 20 vision... me. Nonetheless, here we are almost a year into this move, and I want to go back to my original intent- a discussion of change.
As Nick says, its feeling a little "vomit-like" in its diary type installments. I mean, really.. how many pictures of me and Noah can I include?
So here is the new idea. Little Brick-e will change ever so slightly. I will continue to barf up the facts and events of some summer days. These times, though, we will try to remember to bring the camera when we ware with our dear friends. They are good lookin folks, so get ready. Matter of factly, yesterday at the Daily Chris and I made a photo series, but I deleted them all by accident. Duh, that button said delete, not cancel?!
LIttle Brick-e will also now include a somewhat intended shift/change in food lifestyle. We'll update with those tricks we learn in the kitchen trying to be vegans for a summer. Hell, maybe we'll really go freegan, too. Nope- that's just a little joke for you Louise. Did you see Oprah on Thursday- it was the Freegan episode!
We found out that we really are 7th day adventists by our definition when you relate it to cooking/eating habits. As many of you know, Noah and I are addicted to beans and rice and cannot get enough. When off them for too long, we get grouchy- kinda like a smoker quitting or a cupcake eater waiting for the next birthday party. It ranges from those two levels of extreme. Anyhow, the change... I will get to it.
Mr. C at CICS WEst Belden school informed us that because of our 6 days a week of beans and rice and then a common one day of meat meal- preferably the Roy Reed, we qualify as 7th Day Adventists. Go figure. So anyhow, we also found out through some intrigued internet researching... we also could easily qualify for vegans.
So game on... summertime of vegan eating and cooking. I am not sue Mom and Dad will go for this experiment, but they are going to have to join us for the fun. So no more animal products allowed- including eggs and the one day a week meat entree. Yup, I will still wear sneakers and not skip my weekly indulgence. These are way too fun to pass up. I think the hardest part will be omitting the creamer from the coffee cups of morning. Yikes.
So... our first recipes to try out include:
Yucca Tortillas on a grill
Chick Pea Sammie Delight
Grilled Greens and Onion garlicky corn tortillas (watch out, phew)
and of course, we continue with beans and rice.
This sounds good today, let's see how it sounds next week when we are on vacation. Things could drastically tank at that point. And in France... game off!
So maybe this is selective, but it would be interesting.
