What's Important

Finding a balance is important to me.  I think to all of those who have the ability to reflect and for lack of less teachery phrase, self analyze balance is a nice objective to aim for and get everday.
Balance between family and friends, work, stress, and fun.
Spending hours and hours shuffling papers and looking at groupings and determining these things is valuable but to carry this home until now- 9:18 is insane.
Today while Aunt Betty fell down the stairs, broke wrists, and punctured lungs, I highly doubt she was thinking of the need to spend 12 hours spinning wheels mulling papers, pretesting, quartiling, and scheduling.
So I remind myself of what is important in achieving balance.  Do these things well, but remember at the end of the day your dignity and integrity is not about what time you drive through the flood on a rain day, how you color coded, and if a mini lesson ran more than 10 minutes today. It lies in things of different importance. Delivering your best to those who count on you everyday- family, friends, and those little kids.  And the beauty in balance is that not everyone's best has to be the exact same.  Difference is what makes the world and beautifully engaging place.
At the end of the day- there has to come a quitting time.  It looks like mine is now 9:30.
